Prom car hire in Norwich

Florence has already done a Norwich prom – Hollie's, at Carrow Road, roof down on the hottest evening of the year.

Prom hire from £200.

Driven by a qualified teacher with an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Florence at Norwich proms

Florence took Hollie to her prom at Norwich City Football Stadium at Carrow Road, on one of the hottest evenings of the year. The roof stayed down the whole way, and Hollie's mother wrote afterwards that she “arrived with her hair still perfect but having been cool on her journey”. Carrow Road is one of the venues Norfolk schools use most for a prom night, and it is where a long line of white limousines pulls up at the same door within about twenty minutes of each other. A mint green Nissan Figaro in the middle of that is not something anyone forgets.

She is a genuine period soft-top with cream leather, chrome and a dashboard from another decade. She seats three, or two in real comfort, and the front passenger seat lifts out if a long dress needs the room. She is small, and she is not pretending to be a limousine.

John drives her himself, in a suit, shirt and tie, and arrives about half an hour before you need to leave so there is time for photographs at the house. He offers ideas for the pictures too, which parents tend to mention afterwards.

Who drives, and why that matters

John Stanley drives every booking himself. He is a qualified teacher and holds an Enhanced DBS certificate, issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service – the same level of check required to work with children in a school. You are very welcome to see it before you book.

For a wedding that is a pleasant detail. For a prom it is rather the point: your son or daughter is getting into a car with someone you have not met, on an evening when you are not there. There is one car and one driver here, and the driver is the man who answers the phone. Nothing is handed off to whoever happens to be free that night.

What £200 gets you

Prom hire is £200, and that is the whole price – it includes VAT, and there is nothing added afterwards. A £50 deposit secures the date and the balance is due before the evening.

  • John driving, in a suit, shirt and tie
  • Arrival about half an hour early, so nobody is waiting on the car
  • Time for photographs on the drive before you leave – this is the part parents remember
  • Collection from home and the run to the prom
  • The roof down if the weather allows, decided on the night rather than booked in advance
  • A drive round first, if there is time and that is what is wanted

Getting to Norwich

We are based at Bedfield in mid-Suffolk, about 32 miles south of Norwich – roughly 50 minutes up the A140. Norwich and the villages around it, out towards Wymondham, Sprowston and Poringland, are inside the area we cover as standard, with no travel supplement.

Why a Figaro rather than a limousine

Florence is a Nissan Figaro – a genuine period soft-top in mint green, with cream leather, chrome and a dashboard from another decade. She seats three, or two in real comfort, and the front passenger seat lifts out altogether if a long dress needs the room.

She is small, and she is not pretending otherwise. If the point of the evening is to arrive with eleven friends, a limousine is the right call and we will say so. If the point is to arrive in something nobody else has, that photographs beautifully and that everyone remembers, that is what Florence is for. Hollie's mother put it better than we can: “Her friends all thought that Florence was super cute! The perfect car!”

Hollie's prom at Norwich City's stadium

"John and Florence saved the day for my daughter Hollie's prom! Communication was excellent with John responding quickly and nothing was too much trouble. John and Florence arrived early which allowed time for a photoshoot and we managed to get lots of lovely photos. Florence is beautiful and John was really accommodating and offered ideas for different photos. So friendly and completely put us all at our ease. Hollie loved her journey to prom in Florence, on one of the hottest days so far, with the roof down she arrived with her hair still perfect but having been cool on her journey. Her friends all thought that Florence was super cute! The perfect car! Would 100% recommend John and Florence and would book again for any event."

When to book

Proms cluster into the last two weeks of June and the first week of July, which means a handful of Thursdays and Fridays carry most of the season. Those dates tend to be taken during February and March, so it is worth asking early even if the tickets are not out yet. There is one car, so once a date is gone it is gone.

Prom questions

How much does prom car hire cost?
£200, including VAT. That is the whole price – there is no travel supplement inside our normal area and nothing added afterwards. A £50 deposit secures the date.

Who will be driving?
John Stanley, every time. He is a qualified teacher and holds an Enhanced DBS certificate issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service. He drives in a suit, shirt and tie, and you are welcome to see the certificate before you book.

Do you cover Norwich?
Yes. Norwich is inside the area we cover as standard, with no travel supplement.

How many people can Florence carry?
Three, or two in real comfort. The front passenger seat lifts out altogether if a long dress needs the room. She is a small classic car rather than a limousine, so she suits one or two arriving in style rather than a whole group.

Can we have the roof down?
Yes, if the weather allows. It is decided on the night rather than booked in advance. Hollie's prom at Norwich City's stadium was driven on one of the hottest evenings of the year with the roof down, and she arrived cool with her hair still perfect.

How far in advance should we book?
Proms fall into the last two weeks of June and the first week of July, so a handful of dates carry the whole season and they tend to go during February and March. There is one car, so once a date is taken it is gone.
