Florence in Bedford

Bedford is one of the places we travel to rather than one we serve from down the road, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. Florence is based in mid-Suffolk. A Bedfordshire wedding means an early start and most of a morning on the A14 before the day has even begun.

We say yes to them anyway. The couple whose review is further down this page came to us knowing they were outside our usual area, and asked whether we would travel. Florence collected the bride from home in Bedford, took her to St Mary's Church at Goldington, and then drove the couple out to Woodland Manor at Clapham for the reception, with the front seat lifted out to give the dress room. The photographs below are from that afternoon.

She is a Nissan Figaro convertible in mint green, chauffeur-driven by John in a suit, shirt and tie. The reason people book her from this far away is simple: there are very few Figaros in wedding service anywhere in the country, so if that is the car you want, distance is often the only thing between you and it.

Getting to Bedford

Bedfield to Bedford is about 85 miles, usually a little under two hours via the A14 and A421. That is a good way beyond the area we cover as standard, so Bedfordshire weddings are quoted to include the travel and we only take a handful each year. The last one came to £350. Ask early, because a booking closer to home will take the date first.

Proms are a local service for us. At this distance the travel would cost more than the hire itself, so a Bedford prom is unlikely to be good value for you and we would say so. Weddings are different, because the car stays with you for the day.
